Planned Giving: Getting the Proper Start

Join us for Planned Giving: Getting the Proper Start, Monday, June 4- Wednesday, June 6.

Galesburg Community Foundation is pleased to offer IUPUI The Fundraising School’s Planned Giving: Getting the Proper Start. Join us Monday, June 4- Wednesday, June 6. Expert faculty will demystify planned giving and help you understand the different planned giving options to discuss with your donors. There are only 30 seats available for this course.

This three-day learning opportunity is only $125 per participant. If you traveled to IUPUI this course would cost you $1,295. While we can’t make it free, we have deeply discounted it to make it affordable for your organization. We hope you will join us for this opportunity to learn from leading experts on planned giving.

Minute of Philanthropy

Each week we take a minute to highlight what’s happening in the world related to philanthropy.

Changing her community through art, and an endowment

Marge Dickinson was a longtime Galva High School art teacher, former president of the Illinois Art Education Association and now, a retired teacher. She started the council to support and encourage artists in her small community and quickly found success thanks to the community’s support.

Music Builds Community in Galva

For the second year in a row, the Galva Arts Council was selected as a recipient of the Levitt AMP $25,000 matching grant, a national creative place-making program dedicated to strengthening the social fabric of America through the power of free, live music.

A gateway to something greater

“A gateway to something greater for all,” Krista Bushmaker says without hesitation. “That’s what Galesburg Community Foundation is to me, and I know to so many others.”

He simply loved.

Rev. Jon Sibley Sr. simply loved people. It was in his laugh, his legacy of service and in the many interactions he had with others as a pastor, family man and as an Illinois State Trooper. “He was fun-loving,” his wife Vicki recalls. “He loved this place and he wanted to give back.”

Galesburg Community Foundation will begin accepting scholarship applications on Friday, February 1, 2019. Scholarships are open to students who reside in Knox and Warren Counties and meet the criteria. Applications must be submitted online. Deadline to apply is Friday, March 15, 2019.
