Rapid Response Fund

Galesburg Community Foundation, in partnership with The Twomey Foundation, the G.L. Vitale Family Foundation, the McClean Family Endowment Fund, the Warren County United Way and the United Way of Knox County have committed $145,000 to establish the Rapid Response Fund to support local nonprofits directly responding to emergencies or disasters impacting the communities and people of Knox and Warren Counties. Specifically, at this time, the fund can be used to directly support local nonprofit organizations on the front lines dealing with COVID-19. Grants from the fund will be made in collaboration with public health and safety response efforts, in the event they are needed.
About the Rapid Response Fund
The Rapid Response Fund provides support to nonprofits directly responding to emergencies or disasters impacting the communities and people of Knox and Warren Counties. Donations for the Rapid Response Fund will support nonprofit organizations providing essential services and support to local residents. Galesburg Community Foundation will administer grants from the Rapid Response Fund in collaboration with public health and safety response efforts. Funds will be granted on a rolling basis during times of need, allowing for necessary resources to be available in the most responsive manner possible. How do nonprofits serving Knox and Warren Counties apply for the grant?
Galesburg Community Foundation will administer grants from the Rapid Response Fund in collaboration with public health and safety response efforts. Priority will be given to local nonprofit organizations providing front line services due to an emergency situation such as COVID-19 and to local nonprofit organizations providing basic services to communities that were already vulnerable before the emergency or that are disproportionately affected by the emergency. Funds will be granted on a rolling basis during times of need, allowing for necessary resources to be available in the most responsive manner possible.

How will funds be allocated?
Funds will be released on a rolling basis as needs emerge and fundraising permits to local nonprofits providing critical services. Funds will be allocated in collaboration with public health and safety response efforts. Funds can be used to for needs that are known today and needs that may arise in weeks or months down the road.

To date, the Rapid Response Fund has issued a total of $224,450 to nonprofits serving Knox and Warren Counties. Contributions to the Rapid Response Fund have reached $347,000.

Second Round of Grants Awarded
To date, the Rapid Response Fund has issued a total of $170,000 to 17 nonprofits serving Knox and Warren Counties. Contributions to the Rapid Response Fund reached $270,000.

$143,000 In Grants Issued
The Rapid Response Fund at Galesburg Community Foundation issued the first grants to 14 local nonprofits serving the front lines due to COVID-19 in Knox and Warren Counties totaling $143,000 in resources deployed.

GCF Receives Grant from IL COVID-19 Response Fund
Galesburg Community Foundation was announced as one of 30 Illinois nonprofits to receive funding from the first round of the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund and will receive $100,000.
