The Galesburg Community Foundation has been reaccredited with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations—the highest standards for philanthropic excellence.
The Galesburg Community Foundation partners with individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits to help them have the greatest impact with their giving. “National Standards say that we meet the most rigorous standards in philanthropy and is a promise to our community that we’ll continue to do this good work together, right here in Knox and Warren counties,” said Josh Gibb, president and CEO of the Galesburg Community Foundation.
“National Standards is not mandatory. We chose to go above and beyond by affirming our commitment to excellence and accountability. Our reaccreditation provides assurance that we have sound policies and practices in place. In short, it means we meet the highest standards for local giving.”
To receive reaccreditation with National Standards, Galesburg Community Foundation submitted their policies and procedures to a review of 26 National Standards in six key areas of community foundation operations, including donor services, investment management, grantmaking, and administration.
The program is designed to provide quality assurance to donors as well as to their legal and financial advisors.
“This is critically important to our donors,” said Dr. John McClean, Galesburg Community Foundation chairman. “When people make a charitable bequest or establish a fund, they are putting their trust in us. They are counting on us to manage the investment wisely and honor their charitable wishes. The National Standards reaccreditation says our house is in order.”
